Works with households to resolve emergencies involving home heat and electrical disconnection notices using programs and funds available and helping with applications. Electric heat assistance is limited to households with primary heat source of electricity or electricity that is essential to keeping other types of heating systems operational.

Educates Vermonters about end-of-life options, including medical aid in dying under Vermont's Act 39. This law enables mentally competent adult Vermont residents who have a terminal illness with 6 months or less to live with the option of requesting medical aid in dying. Provides advice and assistance to both doctors and patients. Offers online and printed materials that include A Vermonter's Guide to End-of-Life Decision-Making as well as a Pocket Guide to Medical Decision-Making and provides suggestions for patients on how to talk to their doctor. Also advocates to influence policy, regulations, and practices that affect the terminally ill.

Provides a crisis intervention and assessment program that includes telephone or face-to-face consultation and assessment for admission to local and/or statewide residential crisis programs. Also provides crisis intervention referral services and follow-up. When deemed warranted by the emergency intervention specialist, individuals may be placed in a Public Inebriate Program bed, a safe alternative for individuals who require ongoing supervision during withdrawal from drug and/or alcohol intoxification.

Provides preventative health care education and referrals for individuals and families. Services include assistance with accessing benefit programs, assistance finding housing and employment, health education and wellness programs, and referrals to health care and to local resources such as volunteer drivers, utility assistance, and food assistance programs. Also provides meeting space for social services agency use and health and wellness programs.

Provides comprehensive services to individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and other pervasive developmental disorders. Individuals are assigned professional service coordinators who are responsible for clients' Individualized Support Agreements, and for assisting them in achieving success in the community. Services include personal support and case management; specialized residential programs; psychiatric and medical care; vocational and skill acquisition training; family support services; and support services to individuals in nursing homes. Provides a spectrum of supported living arrangements to meet the needs of each person. Clinical services for individuals include provision of a psychiatrist to provide evaluation, medication checks, and after-hours consultation on medication issues. Child-Only Reach Up provides cash assistance to help eligible adults care for the minor, dependent children of relatives or family friends. Reach First helps families overcome temporary, short-term financial crises and avoid the need for longer-term assistance, providing case management, financial help, and support services. Reach Ahead helps families transition from Vermont's Reach Up or Post-Secondary Education (PSE) programs to working, with supports to help maintain a job, including cash incentives for working and help paying for car repairs, work clothes, and work supplies, a 100% childcare subsidy, and a cash benefit for food.

Assists individuals seeking to improve their money management skills in monthly bill paying, debt reduction, savings and credit reports and credit repair. The process generally involves analysis of the individual's income, expenses, debts, taxes and other factors to create a personal financial assessment; development of a budget for basic living expenses. Also offers workshops that address a wide variety of money management issues including banking services, consumer credit lending, and debt consolidation/repayment.

Offers a series of health-related workshops and presentations for the community, many of which are offered by health professionals. Information about local wellness programs is provided on line and is also published in flyer form. Topics may include movement and exercise, nutrition, chronic disease self-management, and health/disease specific support group meetings.
