Manages water and air quality, regulates solid and hazardous wastes, and administers a number of voluntary pollution and waste reduction programs. Program also provides environmental permit information and assistance, business and municipal compliance assistance, a number to call to report hazardous materials spills, and an Environmental Enforcement Division, which takes complaints regarding potential violations of Vermont's environmental laws. Also offers sampling of drinking water, well tests, and other resources during water-related emergencies.

The Play Group includes snack and a story time and is attended by early childhood specialists and is open to families with children from birth to age 5.

Groups are gender and trauma specific and are designed to build relapse prevention skills and harm reduction. Provides information about alcohol and drug use, the effects on individuals, families and communities, as well as information to the public about strategies for prevention and early intervention.

Constructs energy efficient, affordable homes in partnership with eligible families. The houses are sold to the partner families at cost, with no profit and no interest. Costs are kept low by using donated materials and volunteer labor.

Provides information and referral services for at-home caregivers. Provides financial assistance for short term in-home caregiving services to keep community members safe in their homes as they recover from life events requiring additional assistance. Also provides respite grants for home caregivers.

Head Start (ages 3-5) and Early Head Start (ages 0-3) provide high-quality education, healthy meals, medical and dental screenings, and holistic support for the entire family to prepare children for kindergarten and beyond. Head Start also connects families to social services and resources for housing, employment, education, food, health, mental health counseling, substance use disorder, domestic violence, English as a Secondary Language, and other family needs. Space is reserved for children with special needs (hearing, speech, vision impairment, emotional or physical challenges). Families with foster children are automatically eligible. A limited number of families that exceed the income guidelines can enroll.

Provides safe, confidential, temporary emergency shelter and supportive services.

Provides flexibly scheduled and routed door-to-door (or curb-to-curb) transportation services within certain 3/4 mile of Barre City routes. Coordinates and provides non-emergency medical transportation to health and wellness appointments. Offers volunteer driving opportunities.

Provides screening, diagnostics, and treatment planning services for people who are experiencing acute or chronic psychiatric problems. Offers individual, group, conjoint (couples), and family counseling, therapy groups, medication and other mental health services for community residents, including those who have may be experiencing difficulty resolving personal or interpersonal conflicts or making personal adjustments to stressful life situations.

Provides telephone and face-to-face crisis intervention services for individuals whose emotional distress may range in severity from difficulty in coping with daily stress to the crisis of a psychotic episode. Enhanced Mobile Crisis Services provide rapid mobile response for individuals experiencing a mental health or substance use disorder crisis. A trained 2-person team can meet the individual at home, workplace, or another community setting, providing support and comfort including safety plans, peer support, care coordination and follow up and, if needed, temporary overnight accommodation.

Provides confidential support and information. 24-hour hotline. Survivor-directed services may include safety planning, emotional support, assistance in obtaining emergency relief from abuse orders, hospital emergency room support, assistance in finding emergency shelter, advocacy for legal, financial, medical, and housing issues, and community resource referrals.

Offers a series of health-related workshops and presentations for the community, many of which are offered by health professionals. Information about local wellness programs is provided on line and is also published in flyer form. Topics can include movement and exercise, nutrition, childbirth education, chronic disease self-management, and health/disease specific support group meetings.

Provides online training to educate individuals in the prevention of child sexual abuse. Topics include signs and symptoms of abuse, grooming practices, communicating with children at different developmental stages about healthy behaviors and recognizing and responding to concerning situations.

Provides partial wage replacement to eligible unemployed workers. Also offers the Domestic and Sexual Violence Survivors' Transition Program, a special benefit program for individuals who have been forced to leave their employment due to domestic or sexual violence, including stalking. If an individual is disqualified for unemployment benefits, it provides temporary partial wage replacement if they had to leave employment for those reasons.

Provides rental assistance to help individuals live in safe and decent housing of their choice.

Provides information and resources for addressing environmental dangers and concerns for air, land, waste, and water areas. Offers portal to report environmental violations and hazards.

Offers regularly scheduled health clinics and health education sessions that MAY include blood pressure screenings, glucose checks, cholesterol checks, flu vaccinations, foot care clinics, and self-management nutrition information sessions. Clinics are offered at local senior centers, senior meal sites, senior housing sites, community centers, or other public spaces. Also provides seasonal flu clinics.

Provides information about area senior centers, including addresses, phone numbers, and services provided.

Provides a full range of supportive services for individuals with a limited life expectancy and their families. Also provides comprehensive palliative and support care to individuals in need of pain and other symptom management, whether or not they have a life limiting illness.

Provides programs that help individiuals to remain in their homes and connected to the community. Services may include transportation to medical appointments, shopping, friendly visits and reassurance calls, chores and yard work, and homemaker assistance. Also provides medical equipment loans, as well as a modest home heating assistance fund.
