Provides a program that empowers Vermonters to lead healthier lives through hands-on nutrition education. The Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is usually a six-session series held in home, school, or community settings. An online nutrition education series, Eat Smart, Move More, is also offered and participants can access lessons at their own pace while receiving one-on-one support from their closest EFNEP Educator via phone calls, zoom meetings, and emails. Topics covered may include meal planning and preparation, food budgeting with a limited income, food safety and preservation, and nutrition tips.

Provides dental hygiene and dental x-rays to the general public through the Vermont State University, formally Vermont Technical College, Dental Hygiene program. Services are provided by students in training, and include oral hygiene (cleaning), dental sealants, fluoride treatment, and complete mouth x-rays

Provides free primary medical care, including management of acute and chronic diseases, physical exams, wellness education, women's clinics, care management, referrals to participating specialists when medically necessary, and assistance obtaining pharmaceuticals. Also provides a community health vending machine which dispenses harm reduction and hygiene supplies located outside on the center's grounds.

Provides oversight for all areas of weights and measures. Responsible for the inspection of agricultural products, such as eggs, apples, potatoes, strawberries, maple syrup, and other maple products.

Offers a list of small competitive grants for community groups, schools, organizations and businesses who want to start a garden or improve their community-based needs. Successful grantees receive money for materials, garden planning support, and technical assistance.

Provides a package of long-term services and supports to Vermonters who need nursing home level of care. Eligible persons choose where to receive their services - in their home, their family’s home, an Adult Family Care Home, Enhanced Residential Care, or nursing facility. Services include personal care, respite care, companion care, adult day services, assistive devices, home modification, personal emergency response system, and case management. Enhanced residential care services include nursing overview, personal care, medication management, social and recreational activities, 24-hour on-site supervision, laundry services, household services, transportation, meals, and case management.

Helps Veterans get full benefits and services. Helps to get DD-214s, other military records, and medals. Provides referrals to other services available to veterans and active members of the military.

Provides educational presentations on domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, sexual harassment, and related topics to schools, churches, businesses, medical staff, law enforcement, and community organizations. Presentations can be tailored to meet specific organization needs.

Provides youth employment services that include vocational testing and assessment to help identify skills, talents and experience; career guidance to help plan and map out a career strategy; tutoring and study skills training; summer employment opportunities; paid work experience including internships and job shadowing; leadership development opportunities; and support services to help overcome employment barriers.

Provides ten hours a week of publicly funded pre kindergarten education during the school year. Children must be enrolled in the publicly funded pre kindergarten program with their home districts.

Provides fast track medical services within the emergency department to individuals who have minor medical problems that do not require complex diagnostic work, including colds, flu, infections, muscle strains and sprains, cuts, insect stings and bites, rashes and stomachaches.

Offers a program where trained volunteers are matched with individuals experiencing loneliness or who are socially isolated. Volunteers typically call weekly for 15-60 minutes to provide socialization and companionship via phone or video calls, as needed.

Educates parents and the public about how the tobacco industry targets youth with advertising at retail stores. The Counterbalance webpage includes educational facts, information about tobacco industry tactics, research data, tips and sharable information for both parents and community members.

Provides services for opiate addiction including screening, intake, assessment, treatment planning, methadone maintenance, medically supervised withdrawal, counseling services, case management and referral, medical services, discharge planning and follow-up.

Provides door-to-door van service. Van does NOT transport outside the towns of Essex and Essex Junction with the exception of travel to the Fanny Allen Campus of UVM Medical Center, UVM Medical Center Adult Primary Care Williston in Blair Park, and Evergreen Family Health. The Senior Van also will drop off at the Green Mountain Transit bus stop in the village for a transfer.

Services include primary medical care such as physical health examinations, immunizations, acute and chronic health screenings, obstetric care, laboratory testing, and birth control counseling. Provides onsite integrated health services to enhance access to appropriate prevention, treatment, recovery and wellness services and activities. Pediatric primary care is staffed by specialists who are concerned with the physical, emotional and social health of infants, children and adolescents from birth to young adulthood.

Provides community food shelf services. Personal care items may be available depending on donations. Also offers USDA commodities. Offers guidance and assistance with nutrition and meal preparation. Provides home delivery of pantry items to qualifying individuals. Also offers a Thanksgiving basket that includes turkey and some sides.

Provides personal medical alert systems, including the equipment and 24-hour personal response services. The services connect individuals to trained personal response associates who can send help quickly, allowing at-risk individuals to continue to live as independently as possible. Activation of the personal emergency response system can provide an immediate professional response to emergency situations such as falling.

Provides early childhood development materials that includes: milestones information, tips on having progress conversations with pediatricians, and information about other available resources. Offers a parenting kit, and a Milestone Tracker App that provides parents with easy-to-use illustrated checklists, tips, and activities to encourage a child's development.

Provides telephone and face-to-face crisis intervention services for individuals whose emotional distress may range in severity from difficulty in coping with daily stress to the crisis of a psychotic episode. Enhanced Mobile Crisis Services provide rapid mobile response for individuals experiencing a mental health or substance use disorder crisis. A trained 2-person team can meet the individual at home, workplace, or another community setting, providing support and comfort including safety plans, peer support, care coordination and follow up and, if needed, temporary overnight accommodation.

Provides a broad selection of recreational opportunities and leisure time activities.

Provides confidential, client-directed assistance in gaining access to government and community programs including housing, transportation, Meals on Wheels, senior meals, food stamps, Medicaid, health insurance, rebates, adult day services, hoarding issues, and mental health services.

Provides screening, diagnostics, and treatment planning services for people who are experiencing acute or chronic psychiatric problems. Offers individual, group, conjoint (couples), and family counseling, therapy groups, medication and other mental health services for community residents, including those who have may be experiencing difficulty resolving personal or interpersonal conflicts or making personal adjustments to stressful life situations.

Provides rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing services for abused/neglected horses on a limited basis. Services include veterinary treatment, proper dietary support, parasite control, hoof care, and eventual adoption placement when appropriate.

Provides a bi-monthly community dinner.
