Provides mediation services through which disputes are resolved with the help of a mediator in an effort to avoid resorting to court intervention. Situations that may benefit from mediation are disputes with neighbors, such as noise, vandalism, animal complaints, and parking issues; landlord tenant disputes; school discipline and truancy matters; and problems related to business or workplace conflicts.

Provides small, limited, community food services. Residents encouraged to take what they need and/or donate what they can in support of the pantry.

Provides hospice and palliative care to individuals in need of support services.

Provides a telephone and/or face-to-face response to individuals in crisis. This service offers an immediate intervention and suicide prevention response by mental health counselors and connects individuals to resources that best fit the needs of their particular situations. Within the First Call program there are specialized services such as crisis case management, crisis respite, support services when a tragic event impacts a child, as well as Safety Net, an urgent response service for families impacted by incarceration. First Call also provides education, support, and "Gatekeeper Training" to community providers to promote prompt and appropriate response to mental health crises.

Coordinates/Provides transportation to medical appointments, as well as dental, vision, counseling, prescription pick-up, and other covered transportation services for eligible Medicaid recipients. Offers volunteer driving opportunities.

Provides used clothing and some footwear.

Pays a portion of home heating bills for households meeting income eligibility requirements. Seasonal Fuel Assistance is not designed to cover all of the costs of heating a home or apartment. Active Seasonal Fuel households are eligible for free weatherization services.

Provides personalized coordinated care to help individuals stay safely in their homes. SASH communities include a care coordinator and a wellness nurse who work in partnership with a team of community providers to assist individuals. With the guidance of SASH staff individuals determine their own health and wellness goals.

Provides funding through competitive grants to artists, organizations, and schools. Serves as a catalyst for individuals, activities, and projects that increase the visibility of the arts and leverage funding and other types of support from diverse sources.

Provides confidential paternity (including prenatal) and maternity DNA testing. Paternity and maternity services protect the child's access to child support and inheritance, and ensure the correct medical history on both the mother's and father's side is given to doctors when essential for the child's medical care.

Works to connect individuals with shelter opportunities, food and water, and health care.

Responds to reports of suspected child abuse and neglect, and helps parents get the services and supports they need. Vermont Department for Children and Families Family Services Division (DCF/FSD) is also responsible for placing children in temporary out-of-home care when necessary to keep them safe, working with parents and relatives toward children's safe return home, and finding permanent homes for children who can't return home safely. The program provides a hotline number for reporting suspected cases of child abuse, neglect, or risk of harm. Social workers who answer the line take reports, conduct investigations, assess families, and make recommendations for services to alleviate family stress and improve parenting skills.

Provides an online refund-tracking tool allowing taxpayers who have filed a federal tax return to check the status of their refund. Also provides a toll-free Refund Line. Offers a free smartphone app that allows checking for refund status, paying tax bills, and finding tax preparation assistance.

Provides conflict resolution assistance that helps neighbors find a way to untangle problems and find effective, lasting solutions. Experienced mediators listen to individual story/concern and assist with thinking through options, act as go-betweens, provide a comfortable way for people to come together, keep conversation productive, and provide follow-up to see if members are following through with arrived-upon solution.

Provides screening, diagnostics, and treatment planning services for people who are experiencing acute or chronic psychiatric problems. Offers individual, group, conjoint (couples), and family counseling, therapy groups, medication and other mental health services for community residents, including those who have may be experiencing difficulty resolving personal or interpersonal conflicts or making personal adjustments to stressful life situations.

Facilitates professional case management for individuals in need of mental health or substance abuse services. Services are provided in the privacy of their homes and both individual and family counseling are available.

Provides wellness information to community members that may include the following: activity and exercise, stress reduction, disease-related support groups, chronic disease self-management, fall prevention, CPR and first aid instruction. Provides Healthier Living Workshops for individuals living with chronic diseases and long term health issues to improve their health and well-being through participation in group exercise activities and health education classes.

Assists individuals with regaining their licenses while they are paying off fines and fees. Program participants work with diversion staff to develop contracts that include a payment plan. Participants must satisfy the Vermont Judicial Bureau and the Department of Motor Vehicles requirements. Successful completion of program leads to criminal charges being dismissed.

Offers a series of health-related workshops and presentations for the community, many of which are offered by health professionals. Information about local wellness programs is provided on line and is also published in flyer form. Topics include movement and exercise, nutrition, childbirth education, car seat safety, chronic disease self-management, and health/disease specific support group meetings.

Offers free winter outerwear to individuals and families. Provision of winter clothing is dependent upon types and sizes that have been donated. Also offers blankets, towels and sheets.

Repairs or replaces the home's PRIMARY source of heat. This may include a boiler, electric heater, fireplace, furnace, heat pump, pellet stove, or woodstove.

Provides preventative health care education and referrals for individuals and families. Services include assistance with accessing benefit programs, assistance finding housing and employment, health education and wellness programs, and referrals to health care and to local resources such as volunteer drivers, utility assistance, and food assistance programs. Also provides meeting space for social services agency use and health and wellness programs.

Offers lifelong, full spectrum pre-adoption and post-adoption services to birth parents, pre-adoptive and post-adoptive families, and adopted children of all ages.

Provides loans of mobility equipment, such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches and canes, as needed.

Works with families to address obstacles or challenges regarding housing needs and assists with acquisition of stable housing. Provides support and services to maintain stable housing. This program includes individualized, family-centered case management services.
