Helps Vermonters with disabilities to find and keep meaningful employment. HireAbility VT works closely with employment specialists at Supported Employment Programs who provide a wide range of services designed to teach necessary skills, help a person transition into a job, and ensure that employers meet the needs of their employees.

Provides post-permanency services including in-home adjusted parent education, consultation to treatment teams and advocacy, referrals to community resources, general adoption information, and kinship placements support.

Provides group and individual counseling based on needs, including assessment and medication if needed.

Also provides family substance abuse counseling for families dealing with adolescent substance abuse issues and provides group treatment services for adolescents. Partners with senior meal sites, senior centers, and restaurants to provide hot, nutritious, noontime meals. Home-delivered meals are often available for those who are unable to reach a meal site because of illness or frailty.

Offers assistance for navigating the Vermont court system. Provides help with court forms, information about getting help from attorneys, and other administrative processes during court proceedings.

Facilitates professional case management for individuals in need of mental health or substance abuse services. Services are provided in the privacy of their homes and both individual and family counseling are available.

Provides rental assistance to help individuals live in safe and decent housing of their choice.

Provides down payment grants towards the purchase of an eligible single-family home and assists with obtaining a mortgage from a local bank. Funds available on a first come, first served basis.

Provides 50/50 matching grants of up to $20,000 to assist municipalities, non-profit organizations, and private owners in restoring and preserving historic buildings. Also administers 50/50 grants of up to $20,000 that are available for the restoration and repair of historic agricultural structures, including barns, and Certified Local Government (CLG) Grants of up to $10,000 toward local preservation projects. Also offers tax credits for historic commercial buildings and maintains an online list of other potential funding sources for historic preservation projects.

Offers adult education and literacy instruction that provide individuals with the opportunity to acquire the education and literacy skills they need either to complete a secondary education or to better achieve post-secondary/career goals. Instruction is provided at six learning centers, as well as at job sites, libraries, homes, and other locations. Services include Functional Literacy Education (Reading, Writing, Math), Computer Literacy, Financial Literacy, English Language Learning and Citizenship Preparation, High School Completion Program, General Education Development (GED) Credentialing, Career and College Readiness, and other certifications.

Provides a full range of supportive services for individuals with a limited life expectancy and their families. Also provides comprehensive palliative and support care to individuals in need of pain and other symptom management, whether or not they have a life limiting illness.

Responds to reports of suspected child abuse and neglect, and helps parents get the services and supports they need. Vermont Department for Children and Families Family Services Division (DCF/FSD) is also responsible for placing children in temporary out-of-home care when necessary to keep them safe, working with parents and relatives toward children's safe return home, and finding permanent homes for children who can't return home safely. The program provides a hotline number for reporting suspected cases of child abuse, neglect, or risk of harm. Social workers who answer the line take reports, conduct investigations, assess families, and make recommendations for services to alleviate family stress and improve parenting skills.
