Provides monthly supplemental nutrition assistance benefits to low-income households to purchase food. Households in which any person is younger than 65 access their benefit using a Vermont Express electronic benefits transfer (EBT) debit card. If everyone in a household is 65 or older, or receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), benefits are deposited as cash into the recipient's bank account. Expedited benefits are available in emergencies and other specific situations. EBT cards may also be used to buy fresh, local products at certain farmers' markets in Vermont. A list of farmer's markets that can accept EBT cards is available on the website. In addition, 3SquaresVT benefits may be used for seeds and plants that grow fruit and vegetables at any retailer or farmer's market that accepts EBT cards.

Provides volunteer opportunities for individuals to serve one-on-one with frail elderly and other homebound persons who have difficulty completing everyday tasks. They might assist with grocery shopping, bill paying, and transportation to medical appointments, and alert doctors and family members to potential problems. Senior Companions also provide short periods of relief to primary caregivers.

Offers a pre-apprenticeship hands-on training program to support the entry and success of women and gender-expansive individuals in the construction trades, including electrical, plumbing, and solar skills, and other jobs that are in high demand. For employers, it is a way to develop existing staff and identify new candidates to fill critical job openings.

Repairs or replaces the home's PRIMARY source of heat. This may include a boiler, electric heater, fireplace, furnace, heat pump, pellet stove, or wood stove. Provides help with application for service.

Offers a victim centered, pre-charge offender program that provides an opportunity to the offender to participate in an out-of-court process that, upon successful completion, will result in no legal charge being brought against them.

Provides Work Incentives Counselors who can help individuals decide whether to work, keep necessary benefits while they work, and avoid work/benefits conflicts. The program is also available to youth in high school who are in transition to adult life. Provides restorative interventions for youth and youthful offenders involved with the juvenile justice system, at risk of becoming involved with the juvenile justice system, and/or truant. Aims to decrease risk factors and strengthen protective factors in order to reduce or eliminate further involvement in the system.

Responds to reports of suspected child abuse and neglect, and helps parents get the services and supports they need. Vermont Department for Children and Families Family Services Division (DCF/FSD) is also responsible for placing children in temporary out-of-home care when necessary to keep them safe, working with parents and relatives toward children's safe return home, and finding permanent homes for children who can't return home safely. The program provides a hotline number for reporting suspected cases of child abuse, neglect, or risk of harm. Social workers who answer the line take reports, conduct investigations, assess families, and make recommendations for services to alleviate family stress and improve parenting skills.

Provides preventive health care, as well as diagnosis and treatment of illness in children, adolescents and adults. Services include primary medical care such as physical health examinations, immunizations, acute and chronic health screenings, laboratory testing, and birth control counseling. Provides assistance with advance care planning for individuals who want to express their wishes regarding future medical treatment should they become incapacitated and/or to name the individual they would like to make health care decisions on their behalf.

Provides in-home visitation by a registered nurse to women during pregnancy and following delivery for a mutually agreed upon period of time. Services provided to the family during this time are decided upon in partnership with the family and are particular to each family's needs and desires. Services may include healthy pregnancy information, prenatal nutrition counseling, early childhood development information, parenting education, home safety information, as well as referrals to healthcare, childcare, continuing education, job training, and other community support services.
