Provides training that introduces new riders to the public transit system and teaches them to use bus service effectively. Participants are educated first in a classroom setting and then paired with an experienced travel advisor to learn the basic components of the system, including routes, fares, schedules, and policies. Helps build confidence in riding the bus and traveling independently. Accepts volunteers to serve as travel advisors. The training is customized to meet the rider's needs and includes the dos and don'ts of riding, as well as anticipating possible travel scenarios.

Provides volunteer drivers to assist with transportation to needed services such as medical, dental, grocery shopping, senior meal sites, court dates, housing appointments, etc. This service is not a formal transportation service and provision of rides is dependent upon volunteer driver availability. Transportation for shopping and otherhealth-related errands may be available and is based upon availability of drivers. Bridges & Beyond drivers can transport clients out of Rutland County only if they are seeking medical treatment or consultation at a hospital or affiliated medical office. Volunteer drivers are screened via interview, criminal background check, and driving record.

Provide volunteer transportation using driver's own vehicle to eligible clients of Green mountain Express. Volunteers receive mileage reimbursement, set their own schedule, and contribute to their community.

Rides can be to medical appointments, congregate meal sites for seniors and approved by the local AAA, adult day services, essential shopping, vocational, and essential personal trips. Marlboro Cares can also make referrals to other agencies, and offers educational programs on occasion. Ride requests require 48-hour notice; All other requests should be scheduled as far ahead as possible to ensure adequate response. Short notice of need will be met with every effort to help.
