YOUTH PROGRAMS | VERMONT WORKS FOR WOMEN

Offers programs that introduce girls and gender-expansive youth to technical occupations, skilled trades, and empowerment activities to help them build confidence, think critically, and develop new skills. Rosie's Girls is offered as both a summer camp and afterschool program for middle school youth. Women Can Do is a one-day career exploration experience for high school girls and LIFT (Launching Inclusive Futures in Trades), is a one-week trades program in the summer for high school students. Additional youth programs include Career Challenge Days, and other programming with regional technical and career centers.

THE LOUNGE - TEEN AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM | CENTER FOR RESTORATIVE JUSTICE

Provides a safe, supervised place for teens and mentors to socialize after school. Activities offered include computers, video games, mentoring, and homework help. Special events are also planned throughout the year such as movie nights, picnics, and hiking.

Provides small groups and activities that are designed to empower youth to support and influence their club and community, sustain meaningful relationships with others, and develop a positive self-image. Offers programming in the areas of character and leadership development, health and life skills, education and career development, the arts, sports, and recreation and fitness.

GIRLS ON THE RUN AND HEART AND SOLE | GIRLS ON THE RUN VERMONT

Provides an experiential learning program for girls that combines life skills lessons with training for a 5K walk or run. Participation provides the girls with tools they need to manage the challenges of adolescence. Objectives include reducing at-risk activities such as adolescent pregnancy, eating disorders, and substance abuse, as well as reducing depression and suicide attempts. Exact practice schedule varies. Each team's schedule is set by the team of coaches leading the group.

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT SUPPORTS | TURNING POINT CENTER OF SPRINGFIELD

Provides peer recovery support services through provision of Youth Leaders who support peers who may be struggling with substances themselves or within their families. The program is designed to empower youth leaders, and help them foster resiliency and healthy relationships with their peers. Participants are matched with trained Peer Youth Volunteers based on fit, and the trained volunteer’s ability to provide the needed level of support. Supports may include one on one visits, as well as peer-led group events. The Youth Volunteers meet weekly for continuing education, supervision, and support. Volunteers consult with a certified Recovery Coach about issues / needs that they or their peers are experiencing. At that time, the professional Recovery Coach offers direct referrals for services, supports, and resources to whoever needs them. Youth services are also offered at Oasis Teen Shelter located at 169 Main Street, Claremont, New Hampshire.

YOUTH PROGRAMS | MEETING WATERS YMCA

Offers after-school enrichment programs in Brattleboro (serving Brattleboro and Guilford), and in Dummerston. Also offers summer camp programs for children in and out of the region in Springfield, with bussing from many towns. The Y-ASPIRE after-school programs run all 180 days of the school year and include programming on in-service days, parent-teacher days, and school vacation days. Y Day Camp program runs for 8 weeks in summer when school is not in session. Also available are "specialty camps" like mountain biking and adventure camp; a Leader in Training and a Counselor in Training programs.
