Offers adult education and literacy instruction that provide learners with the opportunity to acquire the education and literacy skills they need either to complete a secondary education or to better achieve post-secondary/career goals. Instruction is provided at six learning centers, as well as at job sites, libraries, homes, and other locations. Services include the following: Functional Literacy Education (Reading, Writing, Math), Computer Literacy, Financial Literacy, English Language Learning and Citizenship Preparation, High School Completion Program, General Education Development (GED) Credentialing, and Career and College Readiness.

Helps families with children by providing case management services that support work, training and education, and cash grants for basic necessities. Reach Up helps with identifying skills, abilities, interests, training or education needs, preparation for work, childcare costs, transportation costs, and work-related costs such as clothing, tools, and supplies. Each person on Reach Up works with a case manager to create a Family Development Plan. Benefits paid through direct deposit or EBT card. Child-Only Reach Up provides cash assistance to help eligible adults care for the minor, dependent children of relatives or family friends. Reach First helps families overcome temporary, short-term financial crises and avoid the need for longer-term assistance, providing case management, financial help, and support services. Reach Ahead helps families transition from Vermont's Reach Up or Post-Secondary Education (PSE) programs to working, with supports to help maintain a job, including cash incentives for working and help paying for car repairs, work clothes, and work supplies, a 100% childcare subsidy, and a cash benefit for food.

Collects quality food from food retailers, manufacturers, distributors, farmers, and community donors and then distributes that food to network partners, which include food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and senior centers.

Provides ongoing family support to all military personnel and families. Operates as a one-stop service center which provides assistance, information and referral to other agencies and organizations that assist service members and their families in both the military and civilian sectors. Services include emergency assistance, education and training, Tricare and insurance issues, ID cards, family care plans, counselor support, employer support, financial, family advocacy, legal property and household issues, reintegration and adjustment concerns.

Provides shelter and basic care for abandoned, stray, or surrendered cats and facilitates their adoption. Also provides a small KAS Community Assistance Program, offering financial assistance with veterinary care, medicine, food or supplies.

Provides technical assistance and support, as well as grant funding to help single-family homeowners create a rental apartment within their home, over a garage, or in other out-buildings. Upon completion of the apartment BAAH remains available for guidance and support. Program is limited to homes in which the owner lives, there is not an existing apartment on property, and where the owner plans to stay for at least five years.

Offers regular in person support group meetings through a network of local chapters that provide a caring environment in which bereaved parents, siblings, and grandparents can work through their grief with the help of others. Also provides support online through virtual chapters as well as private Facebook groups. There is no religious affiliation.

Provides local bus service to general public and accommodates qualified riders with deviated routes. The Rutland Killington Commuter provides additional public bus service during the winter season between Rutland and the Killington resort area.

Supports the successful re-entry into the community of people released from incarceration through Circles of Support and Accountability (COSAs). COSAs are made up of citizen volunteers who work with participants to help them learn to manage the challenges of everyday life, be accountable for their actions and become responsible community members. Volunteer coordinators may help establish links to employment, housing, transportation, and benefit programs.

Manages 6 correctional facilities throughout the state. Provides website about each facility, with visitation schedule and links to information.

Provides training that introduces new riders to the public transit system and teaches them to use bus service effectively. Participants are educated first in a classroom setting and then paired with an experienced travel advisor to learn the basic components of the system, including routes, fares, schedules, and policies. Helps build confidence in riding the bus and traveling independently. Accepts volunteers to serve as travel advisors.

Provides a program that empowers Vermonters to lead healthier lives through hands-on nutrition education. The Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is usually a six-session series held in home, school, or community settings. An online nutrition education series, Eat Smart, Move More, is also offered and participants can access lessons at their own pace while receiving one-on-one support from their closest EFNEP Educator via phone calls, zoom meetings, and emails. Topics covered may include meal planning and preparation, food budgeting with a limited income, food safety and preservation, and nutrition tips.

Provides post-permanency services including in-home adjusted parent education, consultation to treatment teams and advocacy, referrals to community resources, general adoption information, and kinship placements support.

Provides a broad selection of recreational opportunities and leisure time activities.

Provides community food shelf services. Personal care items may be available depending on donations. Home delivery is available to eligible individuals who are without transportation. Also provides a grocery home delivery service for seniors once a month.

Offers a Pregnancy Group, Parent-Baby Group, and Play Group for Vermonters to meet with other families, share experiences, and learn from local experts. The Pregnancy Group is hosted by a maternal child health nurse and visited by local pregnancy and early childhood specialists. Partners, children, and key supporters are welcome. The Parent-Baby Group is attended by a maternal child health nurse and a lactation professional. Infants, children, partners, and expectant parents welcome. The Play Group includes snack and a story time and is attended by early childhood specialists and is open to families with children from birth to age 5.

Provides wellness information to community members that may include the following: activity and exercise, stress reduction, disease-related support groups, chronic disease self-management, fall prevention, CPR and first aid instruction. Provides Healthier Living Workshops for individuals living with chronic diseases and long term health issues to improve their health and well-being through participation in group exercise activities and health education classes.

Provides health care services at all community outpatient clinics. Homebound Veterans are served by Home Based Primary Care (HBPC). Additional services can include basic nursing services, telemedicine, patient advocacy, hospice care, and physical, occupational, or speech therapies through a Skilled Home Care service.

Reviews and coordinates interventions and treatment for families with complex issues as referred by community agencies due to evidence of child sexual abuse, physical abuse, or child neglect. Brings together family members and staff from the area's child and family service agencies to gain a better understanding of the family's needs, to identify a case manager, and to reduce barriers in order to increase access to services and supports.

Provides information about foster care and coordinates support and resources for foster parents of children in State of Vermont custody.

Provides community food shelf services. Personal care items may be available depending on donations. Also offers seasonal Farm to Family coupons that can be used at farmers markets and farm stands, and free seed packets for summer garden plantings. Provides fixings for Thanksgiving at Newport and St. Johnsbury food shelves. Helps individuals and families apply for food benefits.

Provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient care and 24-hour emergency care. Services include 24-hour physician staffed emergency room services, diagnostic imaging, general medical and surgical services, lab testing, blood supply services, hospital-based outpatient services, disease specific treatment, pain management, adult and children's services.

Partners with senior meal sites and senior centers to provide hot, nutritious, noontime meals. Home-delivered meals are often available for those who are unable to reach a meal site because of illness or frailty.

Provides a community-wide, coordinated effort to identify, assess and find appropriate options for homeless individuals and families seeking housing or related services, and/or for those at imminent risk of becoming homeless.

Offers a home-based and neighborhood-centered youth development program designed to support family life, develop physical and mental skills, and encourage cooperation. Boys and girls become members of a den, which is usually led by a parent. Dens meet on a regular basis and earn awards through their achievements and activities, including sports, games, outdoor adventure, and life skills.
