Works to protect the public's health by effecting changes at the environmental, policy, and systems levels. The goals of the Tobacco Control Program are to prevent youth and adults from becoming tobacco users, to support those looking to quit, and to change the overall acceptance of tobacco use.

Provides a safe, stable drug and alcohol-free home and supportive services with the goal of helping residents to transition to independent living and reassimilation into communities. Home environments are "family-style" where residents support one another in their recovery and cooperate to manage the household.

Provides low vision services, including evaluation, information and referral, peer support groups, and instruction on adaptive techniques and aides for daily living. Transportation and Braille transcription services are also available. Offers volunteer opportunities for driving, errand assistance, and reading.

Provides a broad selection of recreational opportunities and leisure time activities.

Provides information and assistance with Medicare, including Part D Drug benefit, Medigap Supplemental Insurance; managed care and long term care insurance; durable medical equipment; and pharmacy assistance programs. Healthcare Benefits Specialists can explain how the different programs work, can help sort through medical forms and bills, and can evaluate medical insurance needs.

Offers ongoing support groups. Groups provide emotional support, information, and resources to help participants process and heal from their experiences.

Supports the successful re-entry into the community of people released from incarceration through Circles of Support and Accountability (COSAs). COSAs are made up of citizen volunteers who work with participants to help them learn to manage the challenges of everyday life, be accountable for their actions and become responsible community members. Volunteer coordinators may help establish links to employment, housing, transportation, and benefit programs.

Offers daily, year-round sports and recreational activities at locations throughout Vermont. Recreational opportunities include alpine skiing, snowboarding, and other winter sports; and kayaking, canoeing, sailing, cycling, mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, and special activities and events. Also offers Veteran Ventures programs, CORE Connections wellness retreats and Eco-Able Environmental programs. Volunteers who are advanced intermediate level skier/riders, experienced cyclists, rock climbers, or paddlers are welcome to apply for the volunteer program.

Provides a visor card to help individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing communicate with law enforcement officers if they are pulled over while driving. There are tips for how officers should communicate with the cardholder, followed by options that cardholders can point to indicating how best to communicate (writing, texting, lip-reading, etc.) with them. On the back, there are graphics with one-word labels that officers can point to under “I need to see your” (license, registration, insurance, other) and “Violations.” The last section is “Help” and lists options for cardholders to show the officer what they need (medical, lost, tow, etc.).

Provides monthly take-away fresh produce and healthy groceries, as well as information/recipes for meal preparation using the fresh produce being given away at each distribution.

Provides small, limited, community food services, consisting of fresh produce from local farms and organizations. Residents are encouraged to take what they need and/or donate what they can in support of the Farmstand. They also offer a variety of farmstand tasks for volunteers.

Provides monthly cash assistance to low-income households in which a person's care or services are essential to an elderly or disabled person's remaining in his or her home. Benefit can be directly deposited into a bank account, or put onto an EBT card.

Renovates and repairs homes in partnership with eligible families. Projects may include essential minor repairs, accessibility projects, painting, landscaping, and basic weatherization measures to make homes safer and more energy efficient.

Provides down payment zero interest loans towards the purchase of a single-family home and facilitates resales of shared equity homes currently in the program.

Provides one-stop centers that offer an array of employment and training services. Helps job seekers assess skills and interests, explore training options, create a job search plan, write a resume, and find a job. Job seekers can access computers, educational resources, and information on employers. Training and pre-job assistance services include ICAN, which pairs qualified individuals with an employment coordinator to assist them with resources, support services, job readiness skills, case management, and job placement.

Provides a portal through which Vermonters can apply for health insurance. Offers help in understanding and applying for health insurance. Helps small businesses enroll in group health plans.

Provides scholarships for people pursuing associate or bachelor's degrees in early childhood education or early childhood special education. Also provides financial bonuses for program reaccreditation and incentive payments for programs and staff.

Provides assistance for people who need housing including information and guidance about rental costs; how to select affordable housing that meets individual needs; and how to provide for insurance, utility costs, and other requirements related to paying for housing. Coordinates with other providers in the community to help individuals and families obtain or maintain housing. May offer limited financial assistance with rent, rental deposit, and other payments. Also provides information on tenant rights and responsibilities.

Provides free legal assistance to individuals engaged in food-related farming or food-related business through volunteer attorneys.

Provides overnight shelter for men and women. Offers case management and life skills program, laundry, and referrals for education, medical treatment, and mental health services. Shelter clients may be eligible for transitional housing. Open Door Mission is a participant in the Veterans Shelter Project. Shower facilities are available to any homeless person .

Helps low-income households maintain telephone or internet services through a discount on monthly services.

Provides a warm place for people in need due to extreme cold temperatures.

Administers the registration and title of all motor vehicles. Issues Vermont license plates. Issues Vermont Driver Licenses, Commercial Driver Licenses, School Bus Driver Licenses, and Motorcycle Driver Licenses. Provides driver training information and issues ID (Non-driver) cards and Learner Permits. Provides school bus driver training information and administers scheduling for driver's license exams. Issues Foreign and International Licenses.

Helps Vermonters with disabilities to find and keep meaningful employment. HireAbility VT works closely with employment specialists at Supported Employment Programs who provide a wide range of services designed to teach necessary skills, help a person transition into a job, and ensure that employers meet the needs of their employees.

Provides rehabilitative therapies including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech language pathology to help individuals recovering from surgery, stroke, or illness. Also provides pediatric rehabilitative therapies.
