COMPASS | NEKCA COMMUNITY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE DEPARTMENT

Provides crisis and stabilization services to at risk youth and families. Assists youth with supports toward developing well-being, education, employment, permanent connections, and stable living environments as they transition to adulthood. Compass works with youth and their families to make a plan of care that will assist them in accomplishing their goals. Youth meet with a case manager approximately once a week. If a youth's family is available for services, they will have the opportunity to work with Compass' Family Preservation Specialist around normal adolescent development, verbal de-escalation techniques, mediation, and other approaches. Provides crisis management for enrolled clients and families 24 hours a day through a pager. There is a rotating staff member on call at all times.

Offers adult education and literacy instruction that provide learners with the opportunity to acquire the education and literacy skills they need either to complete a secondary education or to better achieve post-secondary/career goals. Instruction is provided at six learning centers, as well as at job sites, libraries, homes, and other locations. Services include the following: Functional Literacy Education (Reading, Writing, Math), Computer Literacy, Financial Literacy, English Language Learning and Citizenship Preparation, High School Completion Program, General Education Development (GED) Credentialing, and Career and College Readiness. High school completion program is available online.

Provides an individual employment coach that supports employment searches, the application process, resume writing, and interview coaching, as well as offering emotional support and peer guidance in securing employment.
