Description

Provides one-stop centers that offer an array of employment and training services. Helps job seekers assess skills and interests, explore training options, create a job search plan, write a resume, and find a job. Job seekers can access computers, educational resources, and information on employers. Training and pre-job assistance services include ICAN, which pairs qualified individuals with an employment coordinator to assist them with resources, support services, job readiness skills, case management, and job placement. Programs funded through the Workforce Investment Act provide classroom training, work experience and on-the-job training as well as counseling, job preparation and job placement assistance for low-income youth age 14 through 24 who meet specific barriers to employment, and adults age 18 and older who are low-income and/or receiving public assistance and are unemployed.
