HEALTHY FAMILIES FROM THE START | JANET S MUNT FAMILY ROOM

Provides a support and educational program engaging families from pregnancy up through the early postpartum months who have been identified as being at risk for postpartum mood disorders (PPMDs). Focus is on normalizing and building awareness of PPMDs while using assessment tools for early detection. While partnering with other community mental health and support services, Healthy Families From the Start helps to facilitate a continuum of care during the early months with a new baby. Two options are offered for services: Case-by-Case: This provides an initial introductory meeting with the program coordinator to establish a relationship, identify individual family needs, and set up a plan for support. The plan might include, weekly phone check ins, postpartum mood disorder screening, food and diaper distribution, and help coordinating additional resources as needed. Enrolled HFFTS program: Consists of a 3-week prenatal childbirth and parenting class followed by a weekly postpartum home visit up to twelve weeks postpartum (which can be done in person or remote), ongoing phone support, food/diaper distribution if needed, weekly circle of support held over zoom focusing on self care, newborn care and parenting, and help coordinating additional resources as needed. At the end of the twelve weeks, families can transition to additional ongoing Family Room programs and support. Healthy Families From the Start is offered through in-person and remote one-on-one visits and group gatherings.
