HEALTHY AGING PROGRAMS | WESTMINSTER CARES

Offers wellness, fitness, and fall prevention programs that may include classes in yoga, strength training, and tai chi. The Secrets of Healthy Aging, a twice monthly facilitated discussion group that is followed by a social pot luck lunch is currently on hold until further notice. Programs currently being offered online and the pot luck lunch is on hold for now. Classes are held at the Westminster Institute, Westminster Congregational Church, Westminster West Church, and Bellows Falls Health Center. The discussion group is held at the Fire Station.

THE PHOENIX - VERMONT | PHOENIX, THE

Provides physical fitness activities to individuals in recovery from substance use disorder, such as crossfit, yoga, and strength training classes. Also provides a variety of health and wellness online classes and events. There is also a mobile app that lists classes and events in the community. Must first sign up on their website to be a team member (under the section that says first visit). After this, the person can sign in to take a class.

Offers a series of health-related workshops and presentations for the community, many of which are offered by health professionals. Information about local wellness programs is provided on line and is also published in flyer form. Topics may include movement and exercise, nutrition, chronic disease self-management, and health/disease specific support group meetings. Provides the Vermont Deaprtment of Health Quit Time services that link Vermonters to free services and information to quit smoking. Offers phone, 802 QUITS, and in-person coaching, online support, access to free nicotine replacement (gum, patches and lozenges) and self-help tools, as well as to a Vermont Quit Partners Fresh Start Program series of weekly support meetings. Series is four-weeks long; new sessions start every month. Click on Support Group tab to see list of support groups. Project Independence Caregiver Support Group can provide respite care during meetings if it's necessary to bring a loved one. Contact Project Independence the week before to request.

Topics include movement and exercise, nutrition, childbirth education, car seat safety, chronic disease self-management, and health/disease specific support group meetings. Provides the Vermont Department of Health Quit Time services that link Vermonters to free services and information to quit smoking. Offers phone, 802 QUITS, and in-person coaching, online support, access to free nicotine replacement (gum, patches and lozenges) and self-help tools, as well as to a Quit Time Tobacco Cessation series of weekly support meetings. Specially designed phone coaching sessions and self-help materials are available for pregnant smokers. Health and disease-specific support group information is available by calling the Healthy Community Program number at Central Vermont Community Center. Examples of program offerings are: Healthier Living Workshop, Portion Distortion, Pre-Natal Yoga, Childbirth Education Classes, and Community Reiki Clinics.

RSVP BONE BUILDERS | RSVP & THE VOLUNTEER CENTER

Offers free twice-weekly group sessions facilitated by trained volunteers who provide strength training designed to prevent and reverse osteoporosis, improve balance, provide companionship, prevent isolation, and enhance energy and well-being. A pre-recorded Bone Builders class is available online for experienced Bone Builders participants. Classes are held at sites throughout Rutland and Addison County including churches, town halls, and senior centers. Volunteer Trainers are qualified by attending one all-day workshop conducted by experienced instructors.

MILITARY ONESOURCE SUPPORT SERVICES | MILITARY ONESOURCE

Provides information and referrals for services such as financial and legal assistance counseling, relocation assistance, short term non-medical counseling, spouse employment and education, document translation and interpretation services, peer-to-peer support programs, and support for transition to civilian issues. Providers and peer supports are found locally, customarily within 30 miles of residence whenever possible. While serving, the Coast Guard community is supported by the Department of Homeland Security for their EAP needs.
