Manages water and air quality, regulates solid and hazardous wastes, and administers a number of voluntary pollution and waste reduction programs. Program also provides environmental permit information and assistance, business and municipal compliance assistance, a number to call to report hazardous materials spills, and an Environmental Enforcement Division, which takes complaints regarding potential violations of Vermont's environmental laws. Also offers sampling of drinking water, well tests, and other resources during water-related emergencies.

Provides an annual grant program to fund projects that will improve longer-term resilience on farms. Applicants will define how the funds will be used to improve the resilience on their farm, in their community, and/or for their broader community, with a focus on the social, environmental, and economic impact of the project. Pays for necessary training of farmworkers and other agricultural workers on new farm and/or agricultural equipment in exchange for the farmer/grower giving the worker a new title and an increase in pay.

Provides a wide range of online health information directories on topics ranging from clinical trials, drugs and dietary supplements, general health information, and environmental health. The clinical trials database allows users to search by type of health condition and by location of trial. The Household Products Database provides information on the potential health effects of chemicals contained in common products. MedlinePlus offers information about various health issues, searchable by body location/system, type of disorder, as well as diagnostic tests and therapies.

Provides rehabilitative therapies including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech language pathology to help individuals recovering from surgery, stroke, or illness. Also provides pediatric rehabilitative therapies.

Provides community food shelf services. Personal care items are often available as well.

Provides shelter to lost and unwanted pets, matches pets to be adopted with appropriate individuals and families, provides discounts for older pets to older adopters, and maintains information about local animal control contacts and other animal shelters to assist with finding lost pets.

Administers the registration and title of all motor vehicles. Issues Vermont license plates. Issues Vermont Driver Licenses, Commercial Driver Licenses, School Bus Driver Licenses, and Motorcycle Driver Licenses. Provides driver training information and issues ID (Non-driver) cards and Learner Permits. Provides school bus driver training information and administers scheduling for driver's license exams. Provides comprehensive services to individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and other pervasive developmental disorders. Individuals are assigned professional service coordinators who are responsible for clients' Individualized Support Agreements, and for assisting them in achieving success in the community. Services include personal support and case management; specialized residential programs; psychiatric and medical care; vocational and skill acquisition training; family support services; and support services to individuals in nursing homes. Provides a spectrum of supported living arrangements to meet the needs of each person. Clinical services for individuals include provision of a psychiatrist to provide evaluation, medication checks, and after-hours consultation on medication issues. Also provides care coordination services.

Provides information about foster care and coordinates support and resources for foster parents of children in State of Vermont custody.

Answers questions about federal agencies and provides help with resolving a problem with such agencies, including the Social Security Administration, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, Internal Revenue Offers help resolving problems with Social Security, Immigration, IRS, and other federal agencies. Offers a substance free environment for peer support, educational programs, information and referral to needed services, recovery coaching, socializing, recreational activities, and meeting space for a variety of recovery workshops and meetings. They offer Narcan.

Provides resource listings and links via the web for county sheriff departments, local police departments, state police offices, and other key law enforcement-related departments.

Provides telephone and face-to-face crisis intervention services for individuals whose emotional distress may range in severity from difficulty in coping with daily stress to the crisis of a psychotic episode. Enhanced Mobile Crisis Services provide rapid mobile response for individuals experiencing a mental health or substance use disorder crisis. A trained 2-person team can meet the individual at home, workplace, or another community setting, providing support and comfort including safety plans, peer support, care coordination and follow up and, if needed, temporary overnight accommodation.

Offers the services of Certified Recovery Coaches/Peer support specialist, who work both one-on-one with people on all paths to recovery to help them plan and make positive improvement in their lives, as well as with their families. Recovery Coaches also help guide people in recovery to finding resources such as detox and treatment, housing, food, heat, clothing, and transportation, and resources for improving relationships and getting connected with others in recovery with whom they can relate. Turning Point South located at Parks Place Carriage House, 44 School Street, Bellows Falls, offers recovery coaching and meetings.

Provides business counseling and technical assistance to individuals who are starting, expanding, or enhancing a small business. Services include one-to-one technical assistance in business plan development, marketing materials, and financial management.

Provides management and surveillance of wildlife diseases including rabies, avian influenza, and chronic wasting disease. Offers a Vermont-specific rabies hotline in partnership with the Vermont Department of Health. Responds to questions and concerns about nuisance wildlife.

Provides public awareness and education with community members, legislators, and key decision makers about hunger in Vermont and how to create systemic change to ensure all Vermonters have access to food. Advocates at the state and federal levels to help individuals in need access nutrition programs and to build systems that help individuals move out of poverty.

Offers daily, year-round sports and recreational activities at locations throughout Vermont. Recreational opportunities include alpine skiing, snowboarding, and other winter sports; and kayaking, canoeing, sailing, cycling, mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, and special activities and events. Also offers Veteran Ventures programs, CORE Connections wellness retreats and Eco-Able Environmental programs. Volunteers who are advanced intermediate level skier/riders, experienced cyclists, rock climbers, or paddlers are welcome to apply for the volunteer program.

Provides youth employment services that include vocational testing and assessment to help identify skills, talents and experience; career guidance to help plan and map out a career strategy; tutoring and study skills training; summer employment opportunities; paid work experience including internships and job shadowing; leadership development opportunities; and support services to help overcome employment barriers.
