Provides a support and educational program engaging families from pregnancy up through the early postpartum months who have been identified as being at risk for postpartum mood disorders (PPMDs). Focus is on normalizing and building awareness of PPMDs while using assessment tools for early detection. While partnering with other community mental health and support services, Healthy Families From the Start helps to facilitate a continuum of care during the early months with a new baby.

Operates a resource contact center that connects children and their families to services they need. Child Development Specialists provide education and support around developmental or behavioral concerns, help recognize typical developmental milestones, offer confidential developmental screening, provide referrals to community-based supports, empower families to overcome barriers to services, and follow up with families as appropriate.

Provides confidential emotional support, resources, and referrals before, during, and after pregnancy via phone or text. Offers access to counselors and referrals to local providers and support groups.

Provides telephone support and information about emotional changes during and following pregnancy, about available social supports, and about professional care to deal with issues related to childbearing. Lists contact information for Vermont's PSI Trained Facilitator support group meetings. Also provides information and resources for providers who are caring for pregnant and postpartum women.

Offers rapid consultation services for pediatric and perinatal providers in Vermont who have questions about diagnosis and treatment planning for their patients.

Provides weekly phone talk sessions for individuals to connect with others and to talk with an expert about symptoms, options, and resources in a safe and supportive setting.

Facilitates support groups by trained support coordinators for new parents/caregivers who are at risk of or are experiencing distress such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and other difficulties. Facilitates social circles to bring new parents/caregivers together to foster a sense of community so they feel connected and less alone in their unique-but-shared experiences.

Helps individuals find mental health providers who specialize in supporting individuals and families during the perinatal period. Providers are professionals in good standing with state standards and have completed specialized training in perinatal mental health, such as the PSI PMD certificate course, the PSI/2020 Mom Certificate webinar series, or other specialized perinatal mental health trainings.

Offers 40+ virtual groups for Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders using a peer-to-peer support model, i.e. Pregnancy and Postpartum Psychosis Support for Survivors, Perinatal Support for Latinx Moms and Birthing People, Queer & Trans Parent Support Group, Single Perinatal Parent Support, Birth Trauma Support for BIPOC Birthers, Military Moms Perinatal Mood Support Group, etc.

Offers a weekly, virtual, clinically-focused group for postpartum gestational parents that blends a variety of clinical theories and practices to support an increased understanding of postpartum mood disorders, skill building, and self-integration.
