VERMONT ASYLUM ASSISTANCE PROJECT | COMMUNITY ASYLUM SEEKERS PROJECT

Provides access to justice for asylum-seekers in Vermont by offering pro bono legal services and promoting the rights of the State’s immigrant communities. Volunteers provide rides, interpretation, and social support to asylum seekers.

Provides support and social services coordination for those in need of help connecting with resources that are available to them including housing, employment, health, and child services. Additional services include cross-cultural education and information about integrating into Vermont communities, interpreter services, leadership development and advocacy, workforce development, domestic violence prevention/intervention, youth enrichment, and new American women's support groups.

COMMUNITY AMBASSADORS FOR NEW AMERICANS | CVOEO

Provides culturally sensitive financial and money management education to New Americans in their own language. When possible, offers financial "house parties" for members of specific immigrant communities, hosted by a participant and facilitated by CVOEO Community Ambassadors trained in financial education who speak the same language. Topics include banking in the US, building credit scores, budgeting, microbusiness development, buying a house or car, and more. Community Ambassadors also provide interpretation for 1:1 financial coaching appointments and offer support for traditional credit and budgeting classes as well. Also available are culturally responsive classes that go into greater depth on saving, home ownership as an asset, and starting and sustaining small businesses. Also offers talkline for help to learn how to get help with food, housing, renters’ rights, and more.

NEW FARMS FOR NEW AMERICANS | AALV

Provides garden space and agricultural support for growing vegetables and flowers for individual use and/or for CSA (Community Shared Agriculture) sales. Technical support includes education about marketing farm produce and starting a small farm business.
