Provides payment for or reimbursement of emergency suicide care, transportation costs, and follow up care at a VA or non-VA facility for up to 30 days inpatient care and 90 days outpatient care. Veterans do not need to be enrolled in the VA system to use this benefit. Veterans should inform the emergency care provider to report emergency treatment to the VA Centralized Emergency Care Reporting Center as soon as possible.
Provides eligibility screening for financial assistance programs. Offers personal assistance to qualifying individuals in obtaining ongoing health care with a doctor at reduced cost or for free. Offers assistance with obtaining affordable medications and eye glasses and accessing community resources and state programs. Also offers assistance with managing health concerns through case management, coordination of care, and communication with health care providers. Anticipate wait time for Health Assistance Program response due to high call volume. All calls are returned within two business days. Multiple calls by one caller to the HAP line does not help.

Provides financial assistance for those who could not otherwise afford medical, dental, and health and wellness-related treatment and expenses. Provides assistance for mental health providers, vendors, and service agencies, as well as for medical equipment and supplies, hearing aids, eyeglasses, and prescription medications. Grants (payments) are made directly to doctors, dentists, pharmacists, mental health providers, vendors, and service agencies only after grant has been approved and services have been received. NOTE: Grants are not provided for services or goods already received.

Provides a personal line of credit that can be used for health care, dental care, or veterinary care. There is no interest ONLY IF ALL MONTHLY PAYMENTS ARE PAID ON TIME. Promotional periods vary based on dollar amount charged. If the balance is not paid by the end of the promotional period, the whole amount of interest accrued will be owed. Check on website or call to find out if a particular healthcare provider accepts CareCredit; each provider sets its own maximum dollar amount and length of loan.

Provides monetary grants of up to $5,000 (with a lifetime maximum of $10,000 per child) toward a family's share of the cost of medical services when gaps in a family's commercial health benefit plan mean that a child may go without necessary treatment, or when the child receives care and the family assumes a large amount of debt. Covered services include deductibles, co-insurance, co-pays, and services not covered by insurance.
