Tasks may include assisting their peers in articulating their goals for recovery and learning and practicing new skills, helping them monitor their progress, supporting them in their treatment, modeling effective coping techniques and self help strategies based on their own recovery experience, and supporting them in advocating for themselves to obtain effective services. This is a pilot project. Referrals are welcome from any source, including DOC facility, P&P or Central Office Staff, community-partners or self referrals.

Provides peer recovery support services through provision of Youth Leaders who support peers who may be struggling with substances themselves or within their families. The program is designed to empower youth leaders, and help them foster resiliency and healthy relationships with their peers. Participants are matched with trained Peer Youth Volunteers based on fit, and the trained volunteer’s ability to provide the needed level of support. Supports may include one on one visits, as well as peer-led group events. The Youth Volunteers meet weekly for continuing education, supervision, and support. Volunteers consult with a certified Recovery Coach about issues / needs that they or their peers are experiencing. At that time, the professional Recovery Coach offers direct referrals for services, supports, and resources to whoever needs them. Youth services are also offered at Oasis Teen Shelter located at 169 Main Street, Claremont, New Hampshire.
