A play group facilitator sets up play space with developmentally stimulating activities and acts as a resource for parents by providing advice, information about available resources, and community events.

Provides drop-in parent-child interactive play programs with parent education and support, including Family Play Program with ESL classes for caregivers, projects to promote cross-cultural relationships, and a summer gardening/outdoor education component. Others include Early Months, for mothers and babies during the first few months after birth and Crawlers, Waddlers & Toddlers, for parents and early toddlers. Parenting classes are periodically offered. Additional workshops for adults also are available, including occasional computer literacy classes. Provides snacks and lunch. Workshops for adults include cooking, movement, and book group. Special activities for children include sing-a-longs, story time, nature play, sandbox, and movement. The Family Room also provides a preschool during the school year.

Offers playgroups designed specifically to allow fathers and masculine-identifying caregivers to connect with one another while engaging in healthy play with their children. Groups have met at local playgrounds, coffee shops, the Winooski Family Center, and Fletcher Free library. Playgroups are typically offered 5-6 times a month.

BUILDING BRIGHT FUTURES COUNCILS | BUILDING BRIGHT FUTURES
Provides advocacy for early childhood service delivery system improvements from local communities to both the Building Bright Futures Council and the legislature. Each council provides information about regularly scheduled opportunities for parents to participate in a wide variety of recreational activities. All councils serve as local hubs of information for early childhood and family resource networks. The Statewide BBF Council is comprised of 21 appointed members. Five members are state agency or department heads from the Agency of Human Services, the Agency of Commerce and Community Development, the Agency of Education, the Department of Health and the Department for Children and Families. Other members include two to four legislators, two business representatives, and a variety of community, health and early childhood representatives.
