Provides free and confidential emotional support, advocacy, and referrals to 2STLGBQIA+ Vermonters who have experienced violence, including domestic, sexual, or hate violence, bias, workplace or housing harassment or discrimination, trafficking, or stalking. The SafeSpace Anti-Violence Program works in trauma-sensitive ways with 2STLGBQIA+ survivors of violence & harm and 2STLGBQ+ people who cause violence and harm. 2STLGBQIA+ means Two Spirit, Trans, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, HIV+. Two-Spirit refers to specific gender roles, not sexual orientations, of many Native American and Alaska Native peoples that don't fall into a gender binary. It is a specifically North American Indigenous identity, and not to be used by non Indigenous people. Intersex is an umbrella term for differences in sex traits or reproductive anatomy.

Provides the use of a Montpelier post office box address. The substitute address has no relation to the participant's actual address. First-class mail and service of process are then forwarded, at no cost, to the participant's actual location. Participants can vote, get a driver's license, get married, register births, etc. without fear of being located by their perpetrator. Must be willing to designate the Secretary of State as their agent to receive legal documents and first-class mail and manage a 2-5 day mail delay to allow for mail forwarding.

Provides legal and supportive services including legal consultations and representation in court. Representation is provided for relief-from-abuse hearings, divorce, parentage issues, child support and custody issues, visitation issues, and Guardian ad Litem services in Family Court. Transportation is provided to court hearings, social service appointments, and supervised visits for children. Services also include a life skills and mentoring support group, Women in Transition, to help women build new lives for themselves and their children. Supports the passage and enforcement of laws and other social measures that protect and promote the rights and interests of women.

SEXUAL ASSAULT PROGRAM | VERMONT CENTER FOR CRIME VICTIM SERVICES
Offers services to victims that include trained trauma informed forensic nurses at hospitals, testing, treatment, support services, HIV infection prevention, financial assistance, and a limited amount of counseling. The crime does not need to be reported to law enforcement to receives these services. All services are provided by phone only. If a physical meeting is required, an appointment must be arranged in advance with a staff person. Forensic Nurses at the hospital will assist with explaining the process and filling out and signing forms.
