Provides assistance for people who need housing including information and guidance about rental costs; how to select affordable housing that meets individual needs; and how to provide for insurance, utility costs, and other requirements related to paying for housing. Coordinates with other providers in the community to help individuals and families obtain or maintain housing. May offer limited financial assistance with rent, rental deposit, and other payments. Also provides the Rent Right Program, designed to provide participants with the skills, materials, and confidence necessary to find and maintain stable housing. Upon completion of the program, participants receive a Preferred Renter Certificate, which shows landlords that they have made an investment into being a good tenant. Does not help participants search for housing.

Provides a subsidy for eligible applicants that enables the family or individual to find a privately-owned apartment of their choice. The Vermont State Housing Authority has partnered with Affordable Housing.com to streamline the application process for their housing programs and projects.
Provides a small fund that helps pay for basic needs, such as clothing or housing costs (rent payment assistance or utility assistance). The Discretionary Fund helps with small amounts of an unexpected emergency expenditure. Access to these emergency funds is limited to twice a year, once every six months, per family or individual.
