Manages water and air quality, regulates solid and hazardous wastes, and administers a number of voluntary pollution and waste reduction programs. Program also provides environmental permit information and assistance, business and municipal compliance assistance, a number to call to report hazardous materials spills, and includes an Environmental Enforcement Division, which takes complaints regarding potential violations of Vermont's environmental laws. Also offers sampling of drinking water, well tests, and other resources during water-related emergencies. In an emergency and the Environmental Violation number cannot be reached, call 1-800-641-5005 (24-Hour State Police) or 802-241-5000 (Vermont Emergency Management)
