Eligibility

Individuals whose primary diagnosis is psychoactive chemical abuse, dependence, or withdrawal who are medically stable and who are in need of a safe and supportive environment for detoxification and stabilization.

Description

Provides a crisis intervention and assessment program that includes telephone or face-to-face consultation and assessment for admission to local and/or statewide residential crisis programs. Also provides crisis intervention referral services and follow-up. When deemed warranted by the emergency intervention specialist, individuals may be placed in a Public Inebriate Program bed, a safe alternative to incarceration for individuals who require ongoing supervision during withdrawal from drug and/or alcohol intoxification.

HCRS (Health Care and Rehabilitation Services of Southeastern Vermont) is the designated mental health agency for Windham and Windsor Counties providing mental health, substance use, and developmental disability services. HCRS provides emergency and crisis intervention services for adults, children, adolescents, and their families. HCRS is also a Shelter Plus Care partner.
