Individuals whose primary diagnosis is psychoactive chemical abuse, dependence, or withdrawal who are medically stable and who are in need of a safe and supportive environment for detoxification and stabilization

Provides a crisis intervention and assessment program that includes telephone or face-to-face consultation and assessment for admission to local and/or statewide residential crisis programs. Also provides crisis intervention referral services and follow-up. When deemed warranted by the emergency intervention specialist, individuals may be placed in a Public Inebriate Program bed, a safe alternative to incarceration for individuals who require ongoing supervision during withdrawal from drug and/or alcohol intoxication.

United Counseling Services is the designated community mental health agency for Bennington County under contract with Vermont Department of Mental Health Mental Health Services to provide acute and long-term behavioral health care services to people with a wide range of emotional, behavioral and other mental health problems. UCS provides behavioral health care services and substance abuse treatment, including emergency and crisis intervention services for adults, children, adolescents and their families.
