Description

Provides a safe, welcoming place for individuals experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis as an alternative to emergency department care. Offers immediate help in the form of mental health support, peer support, and referrals to other community services. Also provides an overnight alternative to hospitalization.

Northeast Kingdom Human Services (NKHS) is the designated community mental health agency for Caledonia, Essex and Orleans Counties under contract with Vermont Department of Mental to provide acute and long-term behavioral health care services to people with a wide range of emotional, behavioral and other mental health problems, substance abuse and/or developmental challenges. NKHS provides emergency and crisis intervention services for adults, children, adolescents and their families; and substance use treatment services, including the Public Inebriate Program and the IDRP (Impaired Driver Rehabilitation Program).
