Description

Provides a voluntary, confidential alternative to the regular court process, which allows selected offenders the opportunity to take responsibility for their actions and make amends to victims and to the community. The offender meets before a Community Review Board that creates an individualized contract. The contract attempts to repair the harm done to the community and the victim. Upon completion of the contract, the charge is dismissed. Two years later the record is sealed.

ADDISON COUNTY RESTORATIVE JUSTICE SERVICES

Addison County Restorative Justice Services, a member of the Community Justice Network of Vermont, is a non-profit restorative justice organization that works with citizens, local and state government, and law enforcement agencies to provide restorative responses to crime and conflict. Programs promote restorative practices by increasing community involvement in finding solutions to crime through Reparative Panels, Court Diversion, Circles of Support and Accountability, Pretrial Services, Family Conferencing, Community Mentor, Victim Services, and the Youth Substance Abuse Safety Program.
