BURIAL BENEFITS | VERMONT OFFICE OF VETERANS AFFAIRS

Provides programs to honor deceased veterans and military members through financial assistance and burial benefits. Benefits include burial in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph, grave markers, and financial assistance for burials. Applications are available via website. The United States Department of Veterans Affairs has funds available to offset burial costs.

Eligibility

Open to all members of the armed forces who have met a minimum active duty service requirement and were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. A veteran's spouse, widow or widower, minor dependent children, and under certain conditions unmarried adult children with disabilities, may also be eligible for burial

Vermont Office of Veterans Affairs is a state government organization that administers a variety of programs for Vermont veterans. Programs include benefits assistance, military records, Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery and burial assistance, Vermont Veterans Medal and Vermont Distinguished Service Medal, high school diplomas for veterans, Vermont Veteran Assistance Fund, and Air Forces Scholarship. The Vermont Office of Veterans Affairs is the state approving agency for schools and colleges accepting veterans on the GI Bill.
