Provides a crisis intervention and assessment program that includes telephone or face-to-face consultation and assessment for admission to local and/or statewide residential crisis programs. Also provides crisis intervention referral services and follow-up. When deemed warranted by the emergency intervention specialist, individuals may be referred to a Public Inebriate Program bed, if available, a safe alternative to incarceration for individuals who require ongoing supervision during withdrawal from drug and/or alcohol intoxication. Location is Pine Street in Burlington for the Bridge. Services are temporarily inactive in St. Albans and Pearl Street in Burlington.

Howard Center is is the designated agency for Chittenden County. It provides acute and long-term care services to people with a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and other mental health issues, substance use disorders, and/or developmental challenges. Services include emergency and crisis intervention services for adults, children, adolescents, and their families; substance use disorder treatment services in Chittenden, Franklin, and Grand Isle Counties; alternative education programs; and community-based developmental services.
