Description

Provides a way to open a STABLE Account. STABLE Accounts allow individuals with disabilities to save and invest money without losing benefits like Medicaid or SSI. Earnings from the Account are not subject to federal income tax when the money is spent on “Qualified Disability Expenses.” Individuals who may apply on behalf of the individual with the disability must be a parent or legal guardian, or have a power of attorney; Limits to the amounts that may be put into the accounts change annually. STABLE Accounts are made possible by the federal Achieving a Better Life Experience (“ABLE”) Act. Detailed information about eligibility can be found on the website.
