For a reduced rent, homeseekers may provide services to homeowners that include companionship, meal preparation, household chores, shopping, or yard work, but DOES NOT include medical care or personal care services. Service and financial arrangements are flexible. HomeShare Vermont provides background and reference checks, and ongoing support. Individuals in the program make the decisions about who they want to homeshare with. Services are not designed to meet immediate or emergency housing needs.

HomeShare Vermont is a private, non-profit organization providing a comprehensive screening and matching service to individuals who have a home to share and those looking for a place to live. HomeShare Vermont's services are open to individuals of all ages and incomes. Homeshare hosts are often, but not required to be, elders and individuals with disabilities who are looking for companionship or a helping hand around the house.
