LICENSE AND REGISTRATION | VERMONT DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES
Administers the registration and title of all motor vehicles. Issues Vermont license plates. Issues Vermont Driver Licenses, Commercial Driver Licenses, School Bus Driver Licenses, and Motorcycle Driver Licenses. Provides driver training information and issues ID (Non-driver) cards and Learner Permits. Provides school bus driver training information and administers scheduling for driver's license exams. Issues Foreign and International Licenses. Appointment Required for office visit. An appointment scheduler is available online. Certain Renewals available through the website. When residents visit a DMV office for a new or renewed license, they will be issued a 30-day temporary license, a paper document to be used FOR DRIVING PURPOSES ONLY. A permanent license will be mailed within seven to ten days. License applications and renewals By Mail do NOT receive a temporary license. Do NOT send any mail to Branch Offices or Mobile Locations. All mail must be sent to the Main Office in Montpelier.
