ESSENTIAL PERSON PROGRAM | VERMONT DEPARTMENT FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES - ECONOMIC SERVICES DIVISION

Provides monthly cash assistance to low-income households in which a person's care or services are essential to an elderly or disabled person's remaining in his or her home. Benefit can be directly deposited into a bank account, or put onto an EBT card. The essential person can be the spouse or another person living in the home and must be in financial need. The essential person cannot receive assistance from SSI/AABD, the Department of Aging and Disabilities for providing personal services, or Reach Up. They may, however, receive assistance through 3SquaresVT or Medicaid.
