Description
Provides financial assistance of up to $10,000 to eligible crime victims who have experienced a financial loss as the direct result of a crime, as long as the loss is not reimbursable through other sources, such as insurance. When appropriate, money is available to pay for the following expenses: medical and dental care, counseling for victims and family members, funeral expenses, lost wages due to time missed from work, other expenses such as prescriptions, eyeglasses, and limited transportation costs. If death occurs as a result of the crime, legal dependents may receive temporary living expenses. All services are ONLY available via telephone. Individuals may request in person meetings in advance with CCVS staff. Eligibility for victims of sexual assault is different and specific to that crime. Victims of sexual assault are encouraged to contact CCVS. Applications are available at local police departments, at each State Attorney's office and on the VCCVS website.
